Movember for Girls!
Movember: Get sponsored to grow a moustache for the month of November in support of a mens health charity.
I’ve taken part in Movember before, and think it’s a fantastic campaign - however, only half of the general population can take part! (apart from the bearded ladies out there of course!). As someone who thinks it’s a little unfair men can’t take part in the Race for Life (breast cancer charity event), I thought women probably felt the same.
Therefore, during Movember 2011, I created this Movember for Girls pack. Complete with info booket, sponsorship/challenge form and clip-on moustache, it would be available for a small donation. Buyers can then get sponsored for wearing the moustache all day during a designated day in November - no matter the situation they may find themselves in!
Also available would be a special ‘Ladytache’ t-shirt, for those wanting to get involved in a subtle way (or more risque, depending on your outlook).

I made this piece at work. I was interested in what the internet would give me if I entered ‘painting’ into a search engine. I was using Altavista. There was no image search at that time, so it was all regular web pages. I can’t remember why, but I didn’t click and drag the gifs onto my desktop; instead I took a screen shot of each site as soon as it began loading—often before it had finished loading the image properly—and then opened it in Photoshop and cropped out the painting. I output all the images to betacam and then assembled the piece on tape. The audio track was a fairy tale I wrote and read.
See the web without words. Only pictures.

The Referendum is a phenomenon typical of (but not limited to) midlife, whereby people, increasingly aware of the finiteness of their time in the world, the limitations placed on them by their choices so far, and the narrowing options remaining to them, start judging their peers’ differing choices with reactions ranging from envy to contempt. The Referendum can subtly poison formerly close and uncomplicated relationships, creating tensions between the married and the single, the childless and parents, careerists and the stay-at-home. It’s exacerbated by the far greater diversity of options available to us now than a few decades ago, when everyone had to follow the same drill. We’re all anxiously sizing up how everyone else’s decisions have worked out to reassure ourselves that our own are vindicated — that we are, in some sense, winning.
